Keep In Step
Message 2:
Message 3:
"Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit"
Galatians 5:25
So. Just what does it mean to "keep in step with the Spirit"? The Bible talks a lot about walking.
walk in truth
walk in His commandments
walk in the light
walk in wisdom
walk as children in the light
walk by faith
walk in newness of life
and so on...
Here in Galatians, we see "keep in step with the Spirit." It is
a reference to how we carry ourselves. It is what we do and how we do it. It means going beyond just talking the talk to also walking the walk.
This is about how pray, how we study God's Word, how we spend our time, how we treat God and our relationship with Him, how we treat others, and so on.
This phrase, keeping in step, puts a word picture in our minds. When we picture walking in our minds, we associate it with movement or motivating in a direction. We imagine starting in one place and ending up in another. Keeping in step with the Spirit, certainly involves movement.
Can I just tell ya something? Keeping in step with the Spirit is NOT about being content with your current spiritual condition. And it IS about chasing after something better, something more.
